As an Autonomy Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of high performing control methods for advanced automated and autonomous agricultural and construction equipment. Specifying, designing, developing, testing and maintaining controls for various vehicles, according to product line and program objectives. As an Autonomy Controls Engineer in the Autonomous Vehicles team, you will play a role in the definition, design and integration of controls for ground speed control, adjusting engine speed, PTO, Hitch, locking Differentials and automatic 4WD features in order to enable autonomous operation of vehicles. You will work closely with the Autonomous Tillage, Perception, Communication and Path Planning engineers, to properly understand their needs and requirements and design the system and algorithms accordingly.



  • Design, develop, and evaluate software from concept through production stage, and make modifications as needed.
  • Research, write, develop, test, and evaluate software programs.
  • Work with teams to facilitate deployment related to software programs.
  • Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing software.
  • Create and update documentation for designs, and all phases of the project.
  • Work with external customers to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.
  • May provide or assist with training needs as it relates to new or existing software.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, in field related to specific position with 2+ years of experience OR Master’s Degree in Engineering, in field related to specific position with 1+ years of experience – Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experienced developing software within a structured process (creating requirements, developing software and verifying the software) for embedded electronic control units.
  • 2+ years of software development experience in C/C++.
  • 2+ years of software development experience in Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow.
  • Experience with test, verification, and validation of software algorithms.
  • Experience with agricultural equipment and/or machines.
  • Strong experience with source control tools such as Git, SVN or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of model-based methodology for software development (including MIL and SIL).
  • Knowledge of Python and Comfortable working within Linux OS.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations like ISO 25119/26262.
  • Experience in HIL equipment such as DSPACE or National Instruments.
  • Experience writing software utilizing protocols such as CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet.
  • Experience with tools like CANalayzer, CANape, CANoe, INCA, Control Desk or similar.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: BSP/Board Support Package, RTOS, Bootloader, Power Management, Linux, Microcontrollers.
  • Hands-on experience in electronics laboratory, e.g. multimeter, oscilloscope.
  • Proficiency with a productivity software including use of Microsoft Word, Visio, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Travel may be necessary, based on position.
  • US Citizenship may be required, based on position.
