Summary
The Research Engineer at Raven Applied Technologies in Scottsdale, AZ will be responsible for developing state of the art and safety critical perception solutions for autonomous off-highway machines.
Essential Functions
These responsibilities include:
- Both integrating the sensors themselves as well as developing and implementing the detection algorithms in production vehicles. Algorithms developed may include sensor fusion, localization, mapping, pose estimation, object detection and tracking.
- Responsible for software development to ingest and pre-process the sensor data to support the perception algorithms
- These software development responsibilities include:
- Specifying, designing, and testing vehicle applications and control software per coding standards
- Maintaining, archiving, and controlling application source code
- Managing software releases
- Defining the control system software requirements, software specification and software structure
- Implementing the software architecture and strategies, and requirements for closed loop control algorithms and related software control logic
- Performing unit testing and system integration with hardware and software via simulation and on-board executions
- Defining and executing test scenarios to verify the implemented control and monitoring strategy
- Supporting Product Validation Engineers as they conduct functional and performance testing
- Analyzing and interpreting field data for product development and troubleshooting
- Producing documentation in support of software designs, implementation, and test activities
- 25% domestic travel is required.
- May telecommute one day per week.
Salary: $101,200-$151,800/year.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with one year of experience designing and testing robotic software systems
- The one year of experience must include one year of experience with each of the following:
- developing software in C++ and Python within the Linux OS
- developing algorithms to detect and identify objects
- adapting communication through LIN, Ethernet and GMSL
- nVIDIA ecosystem
- ROS and/or ROS2
- HMI design and implementation, instrumentation and sensor interface, data logging, and communication interfaces
- GIT and Spectrum for managing source code
- NI DAQ systems using cDAQ and cRIO chassis and modules
