Summary
As an Electrical Design Engineer I, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and validate electronic assemblies from concept through production to an end customer.
Essential Functions
- Select appropriate components to meet design needs
- Evaluate and critically test new and previous circuits ensuring appropriate functionality
- Utilize simulation software and proof-of-concept prototypes as needed to validate new circuits and subsystems
- Design and review schematics and printed circuit board layouts
- Clearly analyze problems and fully document design to ensure proper operation and communicate design decisions and tradeoffs
- Perform hardware assembly signal validation, and support manufacturing programming and test flows
- Support field returns and troubleshooting
- Participate in reviews of schematics, layout, IO selection, and hardware requirements for others in the team
- Support or assist the development of firmware on microcontrollers and Linux based systems.
- Track tasks and progress for planning purposes and able to work within a team
- Work is performed under supervision of an engineering team lead and peers
Qualifications
- Minimum of a BS in electrical or computer engineering, experience or internship in a similar field is preferred
- Preferred experience in electronic assembly test, manufacturing, or design
- Knowledge or experience of CAD tools for schematic and layout of PCBs, Altium experience preferred
- Experience with C/C++
- Experience with scripting languages (tcl, Python, bash) to aid gathering and analyzing data
- Experience with Linux and basic networking is preferred
- Basic soldering skills
- Experience using oscilloscope/multimeter, able to perform basic debugging functions and signal verification
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff
