Summary
The mechanical engineer needs to be self-driven and motivated to make generational improvements to existing Raven products. This person will seek understanding of Raven devices and associated use cases to drive design and implement improvements through best engineering and decision-making practices. This may include data collection, design, testing, evaluating assembly methods, and objectively evaluating improved performance.
Essential Functions
- Fully understand purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing products or processes.
- Research, develop, and evaluate design concepts and solutions including materials, specifications, equipment, or machines.
- Effectively work with supply chain and manufacturing on alternate materials and methods to implement generational improvements including being able to balance quality, supply chain, cost, and manufacturability.
- Communicate and collaborate with external customers, distributors, vendors, or suppliers to effectively implement design improvements to existing products and/or solve problems of existing systems.
- Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.
- Perform or facilitate installation and testing related to the product, system, or process.
- May provide or assist with multiple facets of training as it relates to improvements to existing products or processes.
- May act as lead on projects and work with various disciplines within Raven to drive results and timelines for specific projects.
- Continuously strives for professional development through researching latest industry trends and completing technical training and coursework if needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area. Follow established safety and ergonomic standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, in field related to specific position with experience being preferred.
- Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision with good interpersonal skills and a team mindset to work towards shared goals.
- Individual contributor who is excited and eager to learn and positively engage with people across multiple departments and different roles with those departments.
- Experience using 3D CAD design software is strongly preferred.
- Experience with device design to withstand harsh environments is preferred.
- Engineering fields applicable to this position: Mechanical and Agricultural.
- Limited travel will be required.
