Manage, supervise, and coordinate functions of the shipping department to meet customer expectations. Contributes to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere and encourages good work habits.


  • Provides frontline leadership and support to shipping.
  • Performs shipping coordinator responsibilities by working alongside the team more than half of the shift.
  • Pick and package orders as needed.
  • Assist in preparing, wrapping, and labeling pallets.
  • Supervise flow of work and adherence to processes and procedures in the shipping areas.
  • Coordinate outgoing shipments with other teams to combine best possible service with lowest overall cost.
  • Monitor product quality through shipping operations to ensure it meets quality criteria.
  • Responsible to assure team members receive training needed for their position.
  • Ensure team members have a strong understanding of their job responsibilities.
  • Coordinate efforts to ensure proper safety and ergonomics standards and guidelines are met in work area.
  • Assure staffing requirements are met.
  • Encourage team member growth and development.
  • Administer team member performance reviews, goal setting, and participate in salary planning.
  • Maintain records on direct reports in relation to attendance and performance.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with shipping is preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ground and air carriers, LTL, and international shipment procedures.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and empower team members to succeed.
  • High level of patience and service. Ability to motivate team members.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to identify waste and creatively look for solutions.
  • Ability to be flexible and multitask.
  • Ability to read blueprints and maintain accurate records. Proficient with a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
  • Forklift certification may be required.
