Summary
The Software Engineer will develop innovative solutions to allow Raven Applied Technology devices to to sense and respond to the ever evolving precision ag environment.  We are helping farmers around the globe to improve efficiencies to meet the ever increasing demands for food production.  The job responsibilities include working on a team responsible for managing and growing the functionality of embedded devices built upon Real-Time operating systems. 

Essential Functions
• C++ Software Development – Develop and contribute to a team based software project by developing and deploying efficient c++ software solutions.

• Development planning and execution – work with the design team to prioritize and complete work on a predictable cadence and ensure quality and stability of the platform is maintained.
• Research, write, develop, test, and evaluate software programs.
• Work with teams to facilitate deployment related to software programs.
• Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing software.
• Create and update documentation for designs, and all phases of the project.
• Work with external customers to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.
• Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.
• May provide or assist with training needs as it relates to new or existing software.
• May assist with quote or request for quote process.
• Demonstrates the Dimensions of Competition and Raven Team Member Values in their daily actions.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area. Follow established safety and ergonomic standards.
• May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed.
• Learning, understanding, continuously improving, and promoting the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.
• Has broad knowledge and skills in the engineering discipline.
• Assignments are broad in nature requiring creativity and ingenuity.
• Responsible for defining technical approaches and tasks related to activities and projects.

• Capable of defining appropriate approaches and solutions.
• Able to define critical project criteria to ensure project completion.
• May act as lead on projects and guide lower level engineers and technicians.
• Works under limited supervision.
• Contributes to the team and projects in an above average manner.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Similar
• Furthers knowledge of profession through continued education and/or seeking mentorship.
Specific skills, proficiencies, and knowledge in field related to position, as identified by department leadership.
• Trained in the use of C/C++ and RTOS microcontroller development
• Ability to apply design theory and methodology.
• High level of customer service skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques is preferred.
• Well-developed problem analysis and problem solving techniques.
• Team player who is self-motivated, and has ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
• Travel may be necessary, based on position.
• US Citizenship may be required, based on position.
