Summary
As an Agronomic Perception Engineer, you will be a leader the technical development of agronomic implement job outcome sensing and measurement algorithms. You will also assist in defining and executing on the roadmap to highly automated and autonomous vehicles. You will work with the Planning and Control engineers, to properly understand their needs and requirements and design the system and algorithms accordingly as well as with the other internal groups inside the Autonomous Vehicle, Innovation, Vehicle Electronics, Digital and ICT teams, to ensure that algorithms are architected, developed and deployed in an efficient and consistent manner, according to the final applications.
Essential Functions
- Provide technical leadership for digital signal processing of LiDAR based and other sensor based perception systems.
- Develop reliable and novel signal processing algorithms to solve agronomic measurement and classification problems.
- Coordinate research, studies, experiments, and development activities between multiple disciplines of engineering.
- Work on complex problems that impact the success of current or future products.
- Serve as a technical specialist in application of theories, concepts, principles, and processes in area of responsibility.
- Work with internal teams, customer, and vendors to facilitate effective communication.
- Prepare reports of research data, evaluate, and provide recommendations based on findings.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.
- Has broad knowledge and skills in the engineering discipline.
- Assignments are broad in nature requiring creativity and ingenuity.
- Responsible for defining technical approaches and tasks related to activities and projects.
- Able to define critical project criteria to ensure project completion.
- May act as lead on projects and guide lower level engineers and technicians.
- Works under limited supervision.
- Contributes to the team and projects in an above average manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, in field related to specific position
- Engineering fields applicable to this position: Software, Electronics, Robotics
- Experience with LiDAR and the associated perception algorithms
- Well-developed problem analysis and problem solving techniques
- Experience programming in MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++ or other equivalent languages signal processing
- Experience with Linux OS, Ethernet and CAN networks
- Proficiency with a computer, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Team player who is self-motivated, and has ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff
- Basic knowledge of model-based methodology for software development (including MIL and SIL)
- Experience with agricultural equipment and/or machines
- Experience of communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet
- Experience with communication tools like CANalayzer, CANape, CANoe, INCA, Control Desk or similar
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: BSP/Board Support Package, RTOS, Bootloader, Power Management, Linux, and Microcontrollers
- Strong knowledge of source control tools such as Git, SVN or similar
- Knowledge of Python and comfortable working within Linux OS
- Knowledge of safety regulations like ISO 25119/26262
- Experience in HIL equipment such as DSPACE or National Instruments
- Travel may be necessary, based on position
