SUMMARY

As a Staff Linux Software Engineer, you will perform the necessary tasks to bring up and support custom embedded hardware running Linux.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Evaluate the current state of driver support for peripheral and IC selection on custom hardware
  • Support board bring-up and hardware validation through the implementation of secure boot flows into the Linux kernel
  • Modify or write custom drivers as needed for the hardware platform
  • Manage Yocto layers across multiple builds/products and select appropriate methods to share or isolate code
  • Manage automated builds and release processes to manufacturing and the field
  • Implement safe and sure update methods for the Linux image
  • May act as lead on projects and guide lower-level engineers and technicians

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
  • Experienced engineer with 8+ years of design experience with embedded Linux systems
  • Prior experience across multiple core types and vendors
  • Capable of reading schematics and performing basic hardware troubleshooting
  • Proficient in C for bootloader, kernel, and driver development
  • Prior design experience deploying bootloaders, u-boot, and device tree modifications
  • Familiar with troubleshooting boot and system startup problems
  • Preferred experience with managing custom image builds with Yocto
  • Basic networking skill required, preferred advanced skills with routing, security, and quality of service management
  • Experience with scripting languages (tcl, Python, bash) for tool and test automation
  • Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff
